On June 10, 2016 the Craig Dearing Legacy Award was created to honor Craig Dearing for over 40 years of service to the West Jordan Community. Most people knew that he was the President of the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce from 1986-2014, but did you know his service also included:

  • Government Affairs Chairman for the part time Chamber in 1984
  • Committee Chair for the Ping Pong Ball Drop
  • Chair of the Float Committee
  • Chair of the Miss West Jordan Scholarship Pageant
  • 4th of July Parade Committee
  • Chair of the West Jordan Western Stampede Rodeo Committee
  • Co Chair of the Demolition Derby
  • West Jordan Planning and Zoning Commission
  • Chair of West Jordan’s Economic Development Council
  • First Lay-Chair of the Jordan Education Foundation
  • Started the West Jordan Rotary Club in 1987
  • Instrumental in forming and starting the West Jordan Exchange Club in 2003
  • State Chamber Association Board for two terms and one year as President
  • Served on numerous committees and task forces in West Jordan
  • Served on many businesses and non profit boards
  • Instrumental in helping the Wild West Playground build.
  • Instrumental in the Rotary Clubs SME Special Needs playground build
  • Started the Good Neighbor Council
  • Implemented the West Jordan City motto, “Home of the Good Neighbor”
  • Started the Good Neighbor Days Cleanup program
  • Started the Economic Development Coordinating Committee
  • Started the Western Growth Coalition
  • Started the Legislative Roundup

As a Chamber, we want to encourage more citizens like Craig to get involved in the community and help build a vibrant, progressive City. We would like to recognize any individuals in the West Jordan community that are serving at or near the level that Craig Dearing has served.
