West Jordan Chamber President
One of the things I’ve been most excited about since stepping into the role of President of the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce has been the opportunity to build relationships, not just with our businesses, but throughout our entire community.
This week, soon-to-be Chamber Board Member Marcy and I had the opportunity to meet with West Jordan’s Economic Development team, and I left the meeting feeling incredibly encouraged.
Unfortunately, Mayor Dirk Burton was called away to an important press conference regarding the statewide fireworks restrictions, so we weren’t able to connect with him this time. We’ll look forward to meeting with him soon.
What stood out most wasn’t a single idea or project; it was the spirit of collaboration.
At one point during our conversation, someone said something that perfectly captured the direction we’re heading:
“Let’s not worry about the old. This is new. You guys are new. Let’s make awesome things happen.”
I couldn’t agree more.
We spent our time discussing opportunities, sharing ideas, and exploring ways the Chamber and the City can work together to better serve our businesses, our residents, and our community as a whole.
One thing that especially encouraged me was hearing that the City’s team would love to be invited to Chamber events, whether that’s ribbon cuttings, business celebrations, networking events, or other opportunities to celebrate what’s happening right here in West Jordan.
That tells me we’re moving in the right direction:
-The Chamber isn’t here to replace what the City does.
-AND The City isn’t here to replace what the Chamber does.
We each have different roles, but we share the same goal:
Helping West Jordan become an even better place to live, work, and do business.
That’s exactly the type of relationship I hope to continue building!
You will hear me keep saying this, because I truly believe:
It takes a village to support a business. And we are making West Jordan that Village!
