One of the three major initiatives guiding the West Jordan Chamber this year is simple:
Engage Our Residents.
Business owners understand something incredibly important:
Businesses don’t grow simply by marketing to other businesses only; they grow by building relationships with the people who live, work, shop, and spend time in their community.
That’s why you’ll begin seeing a new focus from the West Jordan Chamber over the coming months. While we’ll continue serving our business members through networking, education, visibility, and partnerships, we’re also intentionally creating opportunities to help residents discover and connect with the incredible businesses that already call West Jordan home.
So…what does that actually look like?
It starts with many conversations. You may begin seeing us ask questions like:
What’s your favorite local restaurant?
Who makes the best cookies in West Jordan?
What hidden gem does everyone need to know about?
What business deserves a little extra love this week?
Those aren’t just fun questions we’re asking you; we’re also asking them across multiple neighborhood platforms, and we’re seeing engagement happening. A great example is our Lunch Mobs. We asked the question:
“What restaurants would you like to see get more support?” in the West Jordan Happenings FB community, and we got a long list of restaurants. Based on votes, we will be doing our first one on July 27th at Spud Toddos. You can join us at 12:30 pm.
This is not just for fun, although it definitely is. It also gets our residents involved, so that they’re helping us shine a spotlight on local businesses through the voices of the people who know them best, the community.
You’ll also begin seeing more community-focused content, including local business highlights, Business Beats interviews, educational articles, family-friendly events, Lunch Mobs, Coffee Conversations with the Prez, and opportunities to meet the people behind our local businesses.
One area we’re especially excited about is creating educational opportunities led by our Chamber members. Every business owner has knowledge worth sharing.
Imagine learning home maintenance tips from a local contractor, financial planning from a trusted advisor, healthy cooking from a local chef, gardening from a neighborhood nursery, or pet care from a veterinarian right here in West Jordan.
These classes will give residents valuable information while helping local businesses demonstrate their expertise in a meaningful way.
We’re also exploring industry round tables, community collaborations, resident publications, business tours, contests, seasonal guides, and many other creative ways to help people become more connected to the businesses around them.
Our hope is simple:
- When residents learn about local businesses, they begin to know the people behind them.
- When they know them, trust naturally begins to grow.
- And when trust grows, people are far more likely to support those businesses, not because they saw an advertisement, but because they feel connected to their community.
That’s why one of the guiding philosophies of the West Jordan Chamber is:
Learn Local → Know Local → Trust Local → Support Local
This initiative is about helping our community discover the amazing people, businesses, and organizations that already make West Jordan such a special place to call home.
We’ll be sharing much more about these initiatives in the coming months, and we’d love for you to be part of them.
If you’re a resident, we’d love to hear your recommendations and ideas.
If you’re a business owner, we’d love to help tell your story.
Because…you’ll hear us say this a lot:
It takes a village to help a business thrive. Let’s make West Jordan that Village.
