More visibility. Better connections. Smarter marketing. And a Chamber ready to help you find what works.

When we sat down with local business owners at our Chamber Round Table, one message came through loud and clear:

We need more visibility.

Business owners wanted more people to know who they were, what they offered, and why someone should choose them.

And we heard you.

But as we started looking more closely at what our businesses were already doing to market themselves, we noticed something interesting.

Some businesses were missing a few marketing fundamentals that could make a significant difference.

Others were doing so much marketing that they were spending valuable time and energy on activities they didn’t necessarily need.

The answer wasn’t simply to tell everyone to post more, advertise more, or do more.

It was to help our businesses understand what actually makes sense for their business.

That’s how the West Jordan Chamber’s Marketing Journey began.

Start With the Basics. Build From There.

We’re developing a series of practical workshops, collaborations, and marketing opportunities designed to help local businesses become more visible, build stronger connections, and make better use of their time and resources.

And we’re starting with a few areas we believe can make an immediate difference.

1. Perfect Your Pitch: Help People Know Who to Refer to You

When someone asks what you do, can you explain it in a way that makes them immediately think of someone who needs you?

That’s what a great pitch should accomplish.

Your pitch isn’t just for networking events. It’s what helps someone remember you when a friend asks for a recommendation. It’s what makes another business owner think of you when a referral opportunity comes along. It’s what helps people confidently tag your business in a Facebook group when someone is looking for exactly what you offer.

A strong pitch helps people understand who you serve, what problem you solve, and when they should send someone your way.

On Friday, November 20, Annette Pieper will help us work on exactly that in our hands-on Perfect Your Pitch workshop.

Because being visible is helpful. Being remembered and referred is even better.

2. So You Want to Teach at the Chamber? Let’s Make It Valuable.

One of the things our members have asked for is more opportunities to share their expertise through Chamber workshops and speaking engagements.

We love that!

We want our members to be recognized as knowledgeable resources in our community.

But we’ve also recognized that creating those opportunities means setting clear expectations for what makes a great workshop.

Our audiences deserve useful, relevant education. Our speakers deserve guidance on how to create experiences that genuinely connect with attendees.

And there’s one thing we’re particularly passionate about:

A workshop should not be a disguised sales pitch.

We’re looking for speakers who teach, share their expertise, and provide real value. That means being thoughtful about the topics we offer, the speakers we invite, and the experience we create for attendees.

On Wednesday, November 4, we’re bringing together three event organizers—Myhriah Young, April Hiatt, and Jeana Nunez—for So You Want to Teach at the Chamber?

We’ll explore how to create a valuable workshop, promote it effectively, and offer a next step that feels natural rather than salesy.

We want more opportunities for our members to shine, and we want those opportunities to be worth attending.

3. West Jordan Creators: Discover the Power of Collaboration

Another opportunity we’ve recognized is helping businesses understand how to reach more people without always paying for advertising.

Social media isn’t just about what you post on your own page.

It’s also about the conversations you create, the people who share your business, the relationships you build, and the other businesses you collaborate with.

Sometimes the most valuable visibility comes from someone else introducing your business to their audience.

That’s part of the thinking behind West Jordan Creators, an upcoming collaboration between the West Jordan Chamber and Gage from Local West Jordan.

Our guiding idea is simple:

Try. Buy. Share.

Explore local businesses. Experience what they offer. Support them when you can. Share what you discover.

We’re developing opportunities to help businesses and community members connect in ways that create authentic conversations, new discoveries, and more organic reach.

And we’re excited to show you more as this program develops.

This Is a Journey, Not Another To-Do List

We’re calling it the Marketing Journey because we know marketing isn’t a single workshop, a single platform, or a one-size-fits-all formula.

And this is only the beginning. We’ll continue adding workshops, resources, and collaborations based on what our businesses need.

But here’s something important:

You do not need to attend every workshop.

In fact, we don’t want you adding more to your calendar simply because another opportunity is available.

We want you to choose the things that will actually help your business.

Maybe your biggest opportunity is learning to explain what you do more clearly.

Maybe you’re ready to start teaching and sharing your expertise.

Maybe you need to build more relationships and collaborate with other local businesses.

Or maybe you’re already doing plenty of marketing and need help deciding what to stop doing.

That’s part of the Journey, too.

Not Sure Where to Start? Let’s Talk.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Schedule a conversation with Myhriah Young, President of the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce, and let’s look at where your business is today, what you’re trying to accomplish, and which Chamber marketing opportunities make the most sense for you.

Together, we can help you map out a practical starting point without adding unnecessary work to your plate.

The goal isn’t to do more marketing.

It’s to make the marketing you’re doing work better.

Because when people learn about your business, get to know you, and begin to trust what you offer, supporting you becomes a natural next step.

Learn Local → Know Local → Trust Local → Support Local.

Our Mission. Our Village. Our Future.
